Introduction
Our team at Gartner provides peer insights by getting end users to write reviews of products. We are a startup inside Gartner comprised of two scrum teams with two product managers, a business analyst, and UX specialists.
Challenge
With two scrum teams conducting daily standups, communication was mainly happening vertically within teams rather than horizontally across teams. We wanted to improve cross-team collaboration and transparency.
Solution
After researching email standups, we decided to try out the I Done This app. Team members were asked to start using I Done This daily to share what they are working on. The app sends a daily email prompt to log updates and gives a digest of what others have shared.
Results
Overall the team found I Done This useful for increasing accountability, focus, and transparency. The shared, public nature encouraged thinking about priorities and goals for the day. Setting good defaults, onboarding, and tips helped with adoption. The team at Gartner loved the Email tips and reminders worked well. People also liked commenting and reacting to updates.
Conclusion
In summary, I Done This improved cross-team transparency and alignment at Gartner. With a few optimizations to the onboarding flow, settings, and mobile experience, we believe adoption and engagement will continue to improve. Daily standups via I Done This have become an impactful ritual for our team.
